Education and Curriculum Development

The AICPA strives to improve the quality of accounting education, promote the accounting profession to young people, and nurture key competencies in students who may be embarking on a career in the field. High caliber financial literacy education also equips students entering other fields with critical skills that can be applied both in their professional and personal lives.

The AICPA Academic and Career Development team has developed a number of helpful guidelines and resources for business and accounting educators at the high school, college, and post-graduate levels. Educators can utilize or build on these authoritative tools as they design their classroom curricula.

A useful starting point is with the Core Competency Framework & Educational Competency Assessment (ECA) Web Site, a set of fundamental aptitudes recommended for beginning certified public accountants.
